| Sierra-Leone
music Academy of traditional music.
Most of our close friends and family would be aware that
we have being planning to build a music school in Freetown for the past
five years. The idea was formulated when Sierra-leone Spanish international
Artist Anthony Seydu meet with music promoter and journalist Abraham Sankoh.
After Seydu's two successful Albums, Diamond Tears named after the war
in Sierra-leone the album won the award for the best African album in
Europe, the other album Freetown named after the capital of Sierra-leone
topped the Spanish chats. Seydu decided to form a charity in Spain called
diamond child and started working in partner relation ship with music
promoter Abraham Sankoh..
We are pleased to announce the school of music at Freetown Road Godrich
its at it finally stage of completion and will be opened by the end of
November ,with a full crew of spanish Television coming to Freetown to
shoot a documentary of the opening. Our plans for the school of music
is to develop a program for talented young musician who have the desire
to pursue tradition Sierra-Leone music as a career path. Not only will
the students be able to hone their musical talents and learn basic music
skills ,but hopefully prepare them selves for a real-life transition to
a future of professional musicians internationally .Basically in such
a program they should be able to learn how to live and work successful
as artist and to pursue African music as a career path and be financially
secured for life. Our thanks goes out out to the main Spanish government
who are the main sponsors of this project and to our building contractors
Alis and Jo for working tirelessly and honestly with the builders. You
have made our dream come true.
